In the heart of the Andes, where rugged peaks meet ancient traditions, a unique partnership is unfolding to uplift remote mountain communities. Mountain Lodges of Peru and Trekking for Kids (TFK), a non-profit organization dedicated to making a difference in the lives of orphaned and at-risk children worldwide, have embarked on a series of capital improvement projects that promises to leave a lasting impact on local people.

At the center of this collaboration is Huacahuasi, a picturesque mountain village nestled in the beautiful Lares region. The construction of a ceramics workshop, a project aimed at providing local children with valuable trade skills while preserving the region’s rich artisan heritage, serves as a catalyst for positive change. By fostering pottery-making as both a source of income and a means to uphold traditional crafts, the initiative aims to combat poverty and improve the quality of life for the community as a whole. But the journey doesn’t end there. The vision extends to the creation of the “Qori Maki” Cultural Exhibition Center, aimed at preserving and showcasing the region’s diverse culture. Additionally, ongoing initiatives such as the donation of school supplies underscores the commitment to holistic growth and education within the community.

This partnership represents a commitment to sustainable development and community empowerment. Through the generous contributions of TFK trekkers and the dedication of Mountain Lodges of Peru, the projects are set to create opportunities for generations to come.

This immersive experience not only connects visitors with the local culture but also reinforces the importance of responsible tourism and giving back to the communities where we explore. When passion and purpose unite, anything is possible.
